Writers Are All Crazy

Writers are, by and large, all crazy.

We create worlds, characters, and scenarios in our heads.

Sometimes these characters interact with each other, as they have to.

We build them up, mold them into what living, breathing beings, then let them run loose to see what happens.

Authors do this.

Poets.

Even copywriters.

All writers are in the business of creating with words.

We paint a picture on a page.

Whether it be for entertainment…

Or marketing…

Or both.

I’m sure most writers have been told the age-old “anybody can be a writer”.

It’s true.

Everyone writes every day.

Text messages, emails, Facebook posts.

But not everyone does it well, and not everyone has dedicated themselves to the craft of writing.

I’m one of the ones that have.

I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was a kid.

I used to scribble stories in notebooks, even though I was unable to spell.

I remember confusing the words “wash” and “watch” at one point.

This led to an amusing sentence scribbled in a child’s clumsy handwriting that spoke of “washing a TV”.

These days my scribbling is replaced by tapping.

And my spelling has improved.

In my spare time I work on my novels, which I very much hope will be published someday.

But copywriting is my career.

Nothing gives me more joy than the art of writing.

It’s why I am constantly trying to improve my craft.

No one is perfect, but that doesn’t stop people from striving for perfection.

And it’s also why some would say I’m a little crazy.

But in my opinion the best writers are all a little crazy.
